From July 19th to 22nd 2018, the Charms of Bunaken Festival 2018 will again bring you the best what this magnificent marine park and the coastal city of Manado have to offer, both through their lovely shores and beyond the crystal clear waters.
As in all its previous editions, the Bunaken Festival will feature an array of excitement to indulge your eyes, ears and taste that include the colorfully decorated traditional boats competition, a cultural carnival, the ‘Kolintang’ traditional music, ‘Maengket’ traditional dance performance and competition, as well as competitions on modern and contemporary dances. The festival will also highlight a spicy seafood barbeque fiesta, fun traditional folk games, snorkeling adventure, Miss and Mr. Bunaken beauty Pageant, and festive art and musical shows.
As part of the festival, an exhibition featuring top products and other top features of the province will also be held at the Manado Town Square. Here you can browse for some of the best and unique souvenirs such as Embroidery for which this region is renowned, Batik, Tenun weaving, as well as a variety of snacks, agricultural products and sea and fisheries’ products.
Having continuously risen as a favorite tropical destination in recent years, especially for tourists from China, Bunaken is indeed a coastal paradise filled with rich incredible splendor. The translucent waters of the Bunaken seas enable people to clearly see many species of unique and colorful marine life along its sea bed and drop-offs. For those who enjoy scuba diving, this is a great place to be. With about 20 dive spots to choose from, divers will have the chance to swim below the sea, and frolic joyfully while admiring the colorful and strange sea creatures that make this their habitat.
Bunaken forms part of the administrative city of Manado, capital of North Sulawesi. The marine Park around Bunaken is part of the National Park that also includes the seas around the island of Manado Tua, Siladen and Mantehage.
